Tips for Getting the Groomsmen Ready for Photos

Hey hey! We all know that wedding days are filled with excitement, love, and maybe a little bit of chaos. But when it comes time to take those memorable photos, we want everyone to look and feel their best—including the guys! So, how do we get the groomsmen to relax, have fun, and get in the zone for those all-important photos? Here are some fun and playful tips to make sure we’re getting the groomsmen ready for photos and enjoying every moment!

1. Make It Fun!

Let’s face it, most groomsmen aren’t professional models. But that’s okay! The key is to make the photo session fun and light-hearted. Crack jokes that they’ll find hilarious (yes, this might mean tapping into some good old-fashioned dad humor). The goal here is to loosen them up and get those natural smiles. When everyone’s having a good time, it shows in the photos. Plus, laughter is contagious, so once you get one of them going, the rest are sure to follow!

2. Put the Spotlight on Them

Take some photos that focus on them as individuals and as a group. Let them show off their personalities, whether that’s a serious “GQ” look or a goofy pose that reflects their bond with the groom. When the guys feel important and valued, they’re more likely to engage and enjoy the process.

3. A Little Liquid Courage

Now, I’m not saying we need to turn this into a frat party, but a little alcohol can help take the edge off and get everyone into the right mood. A quick toast with some whiskey or a round of beers can loosen everyone up and create a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Just remember to keep it light—no one wants a tipsy groomsman photo bomb!

4. Prep Them Ahead of Time

Let’s be real, most guys just want to get the picture-taking over with so they can get back to the party. And that’s totally fair! Prepare the groomsmen beforehand by letting them know this will be as quick and painless as possible. Remind them that these moments are just as important as the rest of the day and are about celebrating the groom and his love for his partner. Encourage them to soak up these moments, and remember that every smile, laugh, and silly pose is part of making the day memorable.

5. Keep It Moving

The last thing you want is for the groomsmen to feel like they’re stuck in a never-ending photoshoot. Keep the energy high and the session moving quickly. This not only helps maintain their interest and enthusiasm but also ensures that no one has time to get bored or restless. A fast-paced session keeps things exciting and helps capture those candid moments that really showcase the joy of the day.

6. Encourage Some Friendly Competition

Nothing gets the guys going like a little friendly competition! Challenge the groomsmen to come up with the most creative poses or funniest expressions. Maybe even have a “best photo” contest where the groom gets to be the judge. This will not only make the photo session more engaging but will also create some hilarious memories that everyone will cherish.

There you have it—some fun and easy tips to getting the groomsmen ready for photos! Remember, the goal is to capture the genuine joy and camaraderie of the day, so keep things light, fun, and full of laughter. After all, these photos will be treasured memories for years to come. So, groomsmen, suit up, smile big, and get ready to have some fun!
