Some weddings feel like they were plucked right out of a storybook, and Morgan + CJ’s Tennessee backyard wedding was exactly that! But instead of castles and carriages, this love story was filled with deep jewel tones, speakeasy-inspired details, and the kind of sentimental touches that made everyone tear up at least once. They didn’t just plan a wedding, they created a celebration that reflected them in every single way. From wine and whiskey nods to handwritten love notes tucked into thrifted novels, this day was rich with intention and personality.
And the best part? Their sweet daughter got to be right in the center of it all as the flower girl. I’m not crying, you’re crying. Captured beautifully by members of my incredible team, this wedding is the perfect inspo for couples dreaming of an intimate, meaningful day that feels like home!

The Details: Vintage, Jewel-Toned, and Full of Meaning
The flatlays alone told a whole story, velvet vow books stamped with “His” and “Her,” a ring box etched with their wedding date, and florals bursting in fiery reds, burnt oranges, and deep plums. Morgan + CJ wove their personalities into every corner of the day, but it was the wine and whiskey theme that really made it feel like them. They even have matching tattoos of wine and whiskey glasses, how cute is that?!
They set up a whiskey lounge with a speakeasy vibe (so on brand), and had a wine lockbox ceremony mid-vows. And for the guest books? They had guests sign bottles of wine. Literal genius. As if that wasn’t sweet enough, they thrifted vintage love story novels for each table centerpiece, inside each one, they tucked handwritten thank-you notes for their guests to take home. Just such a thoughtful, personal touch.

Getting Ready: For Their Dream Tennessee Backyard Wedding
The morning had that golden, quiet kind of energy, the kind where you know something really beautiful is about to unfold. Morgan slipped into her lace gown with her mom by her side, the sun spilling through the window like something out of a dream. Her dress had the most elegant, boho texture with sleeves that gave it a little vintage flair, it fit the day perfectly. Meanwhile, CJ got ready with his mom, and y’all, these moments were so sweet. She helped him with his boutonniere and tie, and there was this quiet pride in her eyes the whole time. You could feel how much love surrounded these two families!

First Looks: Beautiful Father-Daughter Moments
Okay but seriously… these first looks? Cue all the emotions. First, CJ waited under the trees for his daughter. The moment he saw her in her tiny white dress, basket in hand, his whole face lit up. She toddled toward him, and the way he scooped her up and spun her around? Pure magic. There’s nothing like seeing a dad beam with that kind of pride and joy. Then came Morgan’s first look with her dad, and y’all, the way he teared up seeing her in her gown? Chills. It was one of those beautiful, grounding moments that remind you just how much love a wedding day holds beyond the couple themselves!

Bride + Groom Portraits: Glowy Light and Cozy Vibes
Out in the trees with leaves just starting to turn, Morgan + CJ shared the softest, most joy-filled portraits. The light had that dreamy golden glow, and you could tell how at ease they were with each other, so many forehead kisses, snuggly hugs, and goofy grins. Their energy was the perfect balance of playful and peaceful. You can tell they’re not just partners, but best friends. And with their daughter joining for a few cuddly shots? Instant favorites!

Wedding Party: Rainbow Jewel Tones & All the Hype
Morgan’s girls absolutely slayed the jewel tone palette, think deep emerald, mustard gold, garnet red, plum, and navy. Every dress was different, and yet together, they created the most striking rainbow effect. It was bold, colorful, and elegant all at once. CJ and his groomsmen kept it cool in classic black and navy suits. But their laid-back vibe brought such a fun energy. The whole crew was hyping the couple up, cracking jokes, and genuinely having the best time. Exactly how a wedding party should be!

A Stunning Lake Ceremony
Under a big open sky beside a shimmering lake, Morgan + CJ exchanged vows in front of a circular floral arch bursting with fall blooms. It was the kind of ceremony that makes you feel things, not just hear them. What made it even more special? Morgan’s grandfather officiated. That personal connection brought such warmth to the moment, he spoke about their love with so much tenderness and pride. During the ceremony, they sealed a wine box together, a lockbox containing letters to each other and a bottle to open on their anniversary. Cue the tears again.

Reception: Speakeasy Lounge Meets Dance Floor Magic
Under a clear-top tent strung with twinkle lights, the celebration kept going with all the cozy, intimate vibes. The tables were layered in navy and emerald runners, black taper candles, and glassware in every jewel tone. Each setting felt like its own little storybook moment.
And that whiskey lounge? Total hit. Guests sipped drinks on vintage couches and mingled like it was Gatsby’s garden party, only with way more love and way less pretense. They cut into a cupcake tower (yes, please!) under the stars, shared the cutest bites of frosting, and then hit the dance floor with their people. It was joyful, vibrant, and relaxed, the kind of reception that felt like a warm hug from everyone they loved most!
